Privacy Policy

This policy explains what information we collect when you use PlayTrendingGames (playtrendinggames.com) and our games, why we collect it, and the choices you have. We have tried to write it in plain language. If anything is unclear, email us at [email protected].

1. Who we are

PlayTrendingGames is owned and operated by KP Digital Ventures Inc., a Canadian corporation (“we”, “us”, “our”).

2. The short version

• You do not need an account to play. Most visitors never give us any personal information directly.
• Your game progress saves on your own device by default.
• Sign-in is optional and is coming soon. If you choose to sign in, we store your account details and game progress so you can play on more than one device.
• Our analytics are cookie-free. We use Cloudflare Web Analytics, which does not use cookies or track you across websites.
• There is no advertising on the site today. We plan to show ads through Google AdSense in the future. Before we do, we will update this policy and, where the law requires it, ask for your consent.
• The site is meant for a general audience aged 13 and over. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

3. Information we collect

3.1 When you play without an account

• Game progress and settings, stored on your device. Your games save progress, scores, unlocks and settings (such as sound and reduced motion) in your browser’s local storage (for example IndexedDB). This information stays on your device. We cannot see it, and it is not sent to us.
• Technical information our host receives. Like every website, our hosting and content delivery provider receives technical information when your browser requests a page, such as your IP address, browser type, device type and the page requested. This is used to deliver the site, keep it secure and prevent abuse.
• Cookie-free analytics. We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to count page views and measure site performance. It does not use cookies, local storage or fingerprinting, and it does not build a profile of you. It tells us things like how many people visited a page and roughly which country they came from.
• Basic game events. Our games may record simple, non-identifying events such as “level started” or “level completed” to help us balance the games. Where these are sent to us, they are aggregated and are not linked to your name or email.

3.2 If you choose to sign in (coming soon)

Sign-in is optional. When it launches, you will be able to sign in with an email link or a Google account. If you sign in, we will collect:

• your email address, and, if you use Google, the basic profile information Google shares with us (such as your name and profile picture);
• an account identifier and the authentication tokens needed to keep you signed in;
• your saved game progress, so it can sync across your devices;
• your date of birth or birth year, collected through a neutral age check when you create an account, so that we do not create accounts for children under 13.

Accounts are provided through Supabase, our authentication and database provider. We plan to store account data in Supabase’s Canada (Central) region.

3.3 When you contact us

If you email us, we receive your email address, your message and anything you choose to include. We use this only to reply to you and to keep a record of the conversation.

3.4 Advertising (future)

When advertising starts, Google and its partners may collect information through cookies and similar technologies, as described in section 6.

4. How we use information

We use information to:

• run the website and the games, and save your progress;
• sync your progress across devices if you sign in;
• keep the site secure and prevent fraud, abuse and invalid ad traffic;
• understand, in aggregate, which pages and games people use so we can improve them;
• reply to messages and requests;
• show advertising in the future, as described in section 6;
• comply with the law.

We do not sell your personal information for money.

5. Legal bases (EU and UK visitors)

If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, we rely on:

• contract, to provide an account and sync your progress if you sign in;
• legitimate interests, to run and secure the site and to measure its use in a cookie-free, privacy-friendly way;
• consent, for any non-essential cookies and for personalised advertising, when advertising starts. You can withdraw consent at any time.

6. Advertising and Google AdSense (future)

We do not show any ads today, and no ad code runs on the site. We plan to use Google AdSense in the future. When we do:

• Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on a user’s prior visits to this website or other websites.
• Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to users based on their visit to this site and/or other sites on the internet.
• You may opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google’s Ads Settings. You can also opt out of some third-party vendors’ use of cookies for personalised advertising by visiting www.aboutads.info (and, in the EU, www.youronlinechoices.eu).
• You can learn more in How Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services.

If other ad networks serve ads on the site in future, we will name them here and link to their opt-out pages.

Consent. Before personalised ads are shown, we will add a consent tool. Visitors in the EEA, the UK, Switzerland and Quebec will be asked to opt in before any non-essential advertising cookies are used, with an option to reject that is as easy as accepting. Visitors elsewhere will be able to opt out. We will honour the Global Privacy Control signal (see section 9.4).

Children. On pages or for users where we have reason to think the audience may include children, ads will be requested with child-directed treatment, which turns off personalised advertising and remarketing.

7. Cookies and local storage

Today we use no advertising or tracking cookies. We use your browser’s local storage for things that make the site and games work, such as your saved progress, game settings and your light or dark theme choice. Our Cookie Policy lists what we use and what will change when advertising starts.

8. Who we share information with

We share information only with service providers who help us run the site, under contracts that require them to protect it and use it only for our purposes:

We may also disclose information if the law requires it, to protect people’s safety or our rights, or as part of a sale or reorganisation of our business (in which case this policy would continue to apply).

9. Your rights and choices

Wherever you live, you can ask us to access, correct or delete the personal information we hold about you. Email [email protected]. We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request. We will not treat you differently for exercising your rights.

9.1 Canada (PIPEDA)

You can ask to see and correct the personal information we hold about you, and to withdraw consent (subject to legal or contractual limits). We aim to respond within 30 days. If you are not satisfied with our answer, you can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.

9.2 Quebec (Law 25)

Our person in charge of the protection of personal information is Keyur Patel (contact details in section 1). You have rights of access, correction, and data portability, and you can ask us to stop disseminating your information. Technologies that could identify, locate or profile you will be off by default. You can also complain to the Commission d’accès à l’information du Québec.

9.3 EEA, UK and Switzerland (GDPR and UK GDPR)

You have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to our processing of your personal data, the right to data portability and the right to withdraw consent at any time. You can complain to your local data protection authority.

9.4 United States, including California (CCPA/CPRA)

Depending on your state, you may have the right to know what personal information we collect, to access it, to correct it, to delete it and to opt out of its “sale” or “sharing” for cross-context behavioural advertising. We do not sell or share personal information today. When advertising starts, you will be able to opt out using our Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information page. We will treat a Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal from your browser as a valid opt-out request. You can use an authorised agent to make a request on your behalf, and we will not discriminate against you for using your rights. We aim to respond within 45 days.

10. Children

PlayTrendingGames is intended for a general audience aged 13 and over. It is not directed to children under 13.

• You can play without an account, and we do not ask for any personal information to do so.
• We do not create accounts for children under 13. When sign-in launches, an age check will stop under-13s from creating an account (under 16 where local law requires parental consent).
• We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn that we have, we will delete it.
• Ads, when they start, will use child-directed treatment where appropriate, which turns off personalised advertising.

If you are a parent or guardian and think your child has given us personal information, please email us and we will delete it.

11. How long we keep information

• Saved games on your device: until you clear your browser data or delete them in the game.
• Account data (when sign-in launches): for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we delete your account data within 30 days, except for any information we must keep by law.
• Server and security logs: kept for a short period, generally no more than 90 days, unless needed to investigate a security issue.
• Emails: kept for up to 2 years after our last exchange, unless we need them longer for a legal reason.

12. Deleting your data

• To delete saved games on your device, clear this site’s data in your browser settings.
• When sign-in launches, you will be able to delete your account from your profile. You can also email us to ask for deletion at any time.

13. International transfers

We are based in Canada, and we plan to keep account data in Canada. Some of our service providers may process information in other countries, including the United States, where the law may differ from the law where you live. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as standard contractual clauses, and we assess transfers of personal information outside Quebec as Law 25 requires.

14. Security

We use reasonable safeguards to protect personal information, including encrypted connections (HTTPS), access controls and choosing reputable providers. No system is perfectly secure. If a breach creates a real risk of significant harm, we will notify affected people and the relevant regulators as the law requires.

15. Changes to this policy

We will update this policy as the site changes, for example when sign-in or advertising launches. We will change the “Last updated” date at the top and, for significant changes, give notice on the site.
